I don’t know about you, but like a lot of people, I am abuzz with anticipation for the
upcoming movie Wicker that will open on Oct 23 ! Because of that, I wanted to find a pattern to remind me of this classic craft. Enter the Stargazer Vest. This stranded colorwork sweater features high repetition and geometry, which from a distance gives the same visual structure as a wicker basket. Knitters in this class can choose woody/earthy tones, or other high contrast yarns for a dizzying array of starbursts.
Skills that we will work on in this class are bottom-up construction with a split hem, strandedcolorwork in the round and flat, Italian tubular cast on and bind off, picking up  stitches, and working a decorative edge with crochet.

Skill level: Advanced beginner in knitting and intermediate beginner in crochet. It’s helpful to be able to knit in both the Continental and English knitting styles at the same time. Materials:
● Yarn – DK or sportweight yarn. Choose DK for more structure, choose sportweight for
more drape.
○ Color A: 591-1123 yds (for panel, hem, cuffs, and collar)
○ Color B: 419-797 yds (for panel)
○ Choose 2 strongly contrasting yarns, whether they’re both solids or one is solid,
one is variegated/heathered/color shifting

● Needles – US 5 (3.75 mm) and US 2 (2.75 mm) on 32” or 40” circular cords. Optional:
size US 1 ½ and US 1 for neckband ribbing
● Crochet hook - size C or D hook
● Notions – Scissors, tapestry needle, stitch markers, tape measure
