Romanesque (crochet market bag)
This open-mesh market bag conjures up images of the historic aqueducts of ancient Roman civilization with its bands of baubles and large bounding arches. Choose an eye-catching yarn to really show off the finer details of this bag, or mix and match yarns to stash bust and add visual interest with horizontal stripes!
Instructor: Lindsay Anderson
When: Sundays, December 6, 13, 20, 27 from 10 am to noon. (Please note that we are in fact meeting two days after Christmas)
Fee: $90

Skill level: Intermediate crochet. Experience with crocheting a bag base in circular crochet highly encouraged. This is not a class for learning how to crochet for the first time.
Pattern: Romanesque by Kate Kosenko Veselunka
Materials:
-
820-984 yards of fingering weight yarn (see note below)
-
Size US B (2.5 mm) crochet hook
Notes about yarn: The yarn length varies based on how long you want to make your handles/straps for this bag. It is recommended to choose a solid colored yarn, or a yarn with really slow color transitions (ombre coloring). Self-striping yarn for shawls is good for this project, but self-striping sock yarn, spiral grains, mottled yarns, and variegated colorway yarns will make the stitch detail in this project hard to see. Animal fiber (wool, alpaca) and acrylic yarns will give you a bag with more drape; plant fibers (cotton, linen, raffia) will give you a more structured fabric for your bag.
