Doodle Colorwork Headband Class

$85.00
SKU:

In this class we will make a headband from The Doodle Knit Dictionary by Jamie Lomax while learning fair isle knitting. Fair isle knitting is a type of stranded colorwork in which no more than two colors are knit in a single round. Colorwork techniques can open up your knitting world to a whole new array of artistic expression whether it be traditional fair isle XO repeats and peeries; Nordic, Scandinavian, Greek, or Peruvian motifs; or contemporary designs that conjure up nostalgia for your favorite 16-bit video game sprites!

Skills we will focus on in this class:

  • Making and blocking gauge swatches
  • Color dominance in fair isle knitting
  • Even tension so that designs avoid “puckering”
  • Catching floats

Skill level: Advanced beginner

When: Thursdays February 19, 26, March 5, and 12 from 3:30 – 5:30 pm

Instructor: Lindsay Anderson

Fee: $85

Prerequisites: Should be comfortable knitting stockinette with consistent tension, should be comfortable knitting in the round. Beneficial to be able to knit both continental and English styles, but not required.
