Learn to spin wool on a drop spindle! Topics covered: drafting, spinning, plying, setting and measuring twist and yarn weight. We’ll also talk about different kinds of spindles and some of the history of spinning.

Instructor: Theresa Wollenstein

Theresa Wollenstein is the executive director of Griffin Dyeworks, 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to promoting historical textile arts. She learned to crochet when she was very young, then picked up knitting in college. That skill was quickly followed by spinning, natural dyeing, and weaving. Theresa has been teaching spinning and dyeing for over a decade.

  • Drop spindle (available for purchase in-store)
  • Roving included

Please note this workshop is for adults only (ages 13 and up).

Students receive a 10% discount on materials they purchase for their class from The Knitting Tree, L.A.

We do require a 72-hour advance notice for cancellations to receive credit for another class.  No credit, partial or full, will be given for cancellations made less than 72 hours prior to the start of the event.  This class is for adults, no children under 13 please.
