Description: Brioche knitting produces a fabulous reversible fabric vaguely reminiscent of k1p1 ribbing, except double-thick and with luxuriously deep ribs. Two-color brioche is even more spectacular: one color dominates on one side while the other dominates on the reverse side, and both colors peek through in the recessed purl columns. A two-color brioche scarf would be a wonderful gift for a loved one (or for yourself).
Students must know how to knit, purl, and do long-tail cast-on
Class Date: Saturday, March 10 from 1pm to 3pm
Course Fee: $30 for two hours of instruction
Yarn: 2 skeins (1 each in contrasting colors) of Juniper Farm Moonshine OR 2 skeins of MadelineTosh Tosh Light
Needles: 16" circulars in size US 9 (for Juniper Farm Moonshine yarn) OR 16" circulars in size US 6 (for MadelineTosh Tosh Light yarn)
*Please note: Pointy needle tips are easier to use with this project than dull tips.
Techniques: Students will learn how to cast on for brioche stitch and work a two-color brioche rib
Skill Level: Beginner (must know how to cast on, knit, purl, recognize the difference between knit and purl stitches, and read/understand written knitting instructions)
Note: If you do not knit in a standard American way (either in the typical English or Continental style), or if you taught yourself to knit and have noticed that sometimes your stitches seem a bit different than other people's stitches, then call the shop to make arrangements to take this class as a private lesson. We will not be able to accommodate you in this group class.
We do require a 72-hour advance notice for cancellations. No refunds, partial or full, will be given for cancellations made less than 72 hours prior to the start of the event.
