Class Description: Reading lace charts and written instructions can be challenging and confusing. This workshop will teach you how to translate lace patterns, tips and tricks for working lace, and how to block your beautiful results! And for a bonus, you’ll learn how to add beads to make your project sparkle!!

Saturdays January 7th and 21st 9:30-11:30am
Course Fee: $60 for 4 hours of instruction (plus an optional 1 hour check-in). Separate $7 pattern fee paid to instructor at the start of class.
Yarn: Fingering weight yarn - 400yds minimum for a small scarf or 1100 yds for a large stole. No dark colored yarns (black, navy, brown, charcoal, burgundy, etc). Yarn should be solid or tonal with minimal halo (“fuzzy”) for clear stitch definition. Pattern is not suitable for variegated or striping yarns. Please no mohair for beginning lace! Stole size is recommended only for fast knitters.
Beads: Package of #6 beads
Notions: Small scissors, pencil, highlighter, and a tapestry needle
Needles: US 5 (3.75mm) circular needle in 24” or 32” length (optional US 4 for cast-on)
Pattern will be provided by instructor.
Techniques covered: Wrapped provisional cast-on, yo, ssk, k2tog, cdd, putting in and using life lines, moving markers within lace repeats, picking up stitches from a provisional cast-on, and lace blocking techniques. This class will teach you how to knit from charts and recognize the lace pattern within your knitting.
Recommended for: Intermediate (You should be comfortable with knit and purl stitches, casting off, and reading your stitches.)
