Finishing Class
Description: Learn to how to beautifully finish your lovingly made knit items. Avoid the frustration of an imperfect seam or border with Annette's help. This two hour workshop will set you up for an easily crossed finish line!

Class Date: Saturday, August 30th 9am-12pm
Course Fee: $45 for three hours of instruction.
Materials:
- Yarn: 2 contrasting colors of worsted weight yarn (one in a small amount for sewing)
- Needles: US 8, US 6
- Notions: Tapestry needle, scissors
- Homework Swatches
Techniques:
- Joining shoulders
- Mattress stitch in garter
- Picking up stitches for button band
- Picking up stitches around neck
- Weaving in ends in stockinette
- Weaving in very short ends
- Three needle bind off
- Duplicate stitch
- Setting in sleeves and easing in
Skill Level: Intermediate

Swatch #1
With a light colored worsted weight yarn and size US 8 needle cast on 36 stitches.
Knit 20 rows in garter stitch (knit every row).
Change to stockinette stitch (purl one row, knit one row) for 20 rows. Make sure you end just having purled a row and looking at the knit side of your work
Knit 14 stitches, bind off 8, place last bind off loop on left needle, knit 1, ssk, knit to end

Bind off loosely. Cut yarn.
Attach yarn to other shoulder and knit until 3 sts remain, K2tog, K1

Bind off loosely. Cut yarn.
Swatch #2
Cast on 36 sts.
Knit 20 rows in garter stitch.
Switch to stockinette stitch until your swatch is as long as swatch #1.
Bind off loosely.
