Class Description: Learn how to make a quick felted bag for yourself or as a gift. Show off your brand new felted knitting bag at your local craft circles.
Saturday, January 8 from 10 to 11:30am
Saturday, January 15 from 10 to 11:30am
Course Fee: $45 for 3 hours of instruction.
Yarn: Non-superwash wool in worsted weight or heavier. We recommend Berroco Lanas Quick – the shop sample used 2 skeins, for a bigger bag you can use three skeins.
Needles, etc: DPNs – size 9 or 10 – to start the project, then circular needle(s) size 10 ½. If you have interchangeable needles with different cord lengths, bring extra cords to increase the length of the needle as the bag grows. Otherwise, a 24” or 30” circular needle will work.
You will also need stitch markers and a crochet hook
Class: This class will be taught in 2 sessions:
- Session 1 (January 8): learn about felting, and what you need to keep in mind as you design your own felted bag or bowl, get started on your project.
- Session 2 (January 15): finishing touches on your project, and then we will felt and shape your projects in class!
Techniques covered: Shaping for different types of bags, techniques for making handles
